Quakers Hill · City of Blacktown

Landscaping Quakers Hill

Quakers Hill was carved out of five-acre farms over sixty years, so one street can hold a generous old block and a compact new one. We design to the block in front of us rather than running the same layout over both.

What we get called out for

Sixty years of subdivision in one suburb

Quakers Hill sits about 40 kilometres west-north-west of the city. It was five-acre farms until the 1960s and has been subdivided in waves ever since, with Acacia Gardens split off in 1996 and Nirimba Fields in 2020. The result is block sizes and garden ages that vary enormously street to street.

Older blocks with room to work

The earlier subdivisions left generous yards, usually with forty years of planting on them. Those jobs are about reclaiming space and rebuilding levels rather than starting from nothing.

Newer blocks with none

The later releases are compact, often handed over as bare fill with builder's turf. On those the layout has to earn every metre, and the ground needs fixing before anything is laid.

A wet summer and a cold winter

Blacktown council area averages around 925 millimetres of rain, most of it between January and March, then runs to light frosts on many winter mornings. A garden built here has to handle both ends of that.

What we do here

Our landscaping and garden services in Quakers Hill

Most builds here combine three or four of these. Tell us the block and what you want from it and we will set the order.

Paving in Quakers Hill

Entertaining areas, paths and front entries on a properly prepared base. On the compact newer blocks the paved area often replaces lawn that was never going to hold, and it sets the layout for the rest.

Turf laying in Quakers Hill

New lawn over decompacted, levelled and topped-up soil. On the newer estate blocks the ground preparation is most of the job, because turf over construction fill rarely survives its first summer.

How we lay new turf

Weeding in Quakers Hill

Clearing the site back to clean ground before anything is built or planted. After a humid Blacktown January the weed load is heavy, and planting into it just brings it all back.

The local details that change a quote

Because the blocks vary so much here, the quote has to start with which kind you have.

  • Which subdivision era. An early five-acre split and a 2010s release are different jobs entirely. One is about reclaiming an overgrown space, the other about building one from bare ground.
  • Ground condition. Newer blocks are usually compacted fill with little topsoil. We fix that before anything is laid, because turf and planting over it fails the same way twice.
  • Drainage. Most of the year's rain arrives in a few months. Falls, drains and wall backfill are designed in rather than dealt with after the first storm.
  • Access. Older blocks often have room for machinery, newer ones frequently do not. That single difference can change the labour on an identical-looking job.
  • Waste volume. Clearing a forty-year-old garden is a different removal job to a bare-block build. We price it as its own line either way.

How it runs

From first call to finished garden

Three steps, a fixed written price, and the stages in the order they have to happen.

Call or send the form with photos. Photos tell us which kind of block we are dealing with, which is most of what we need for a realistic range.

  2. Free on-site quote

We check the ground, levels, drainage and access, then give you a fixed written price with the stages set out in build order.

  3. Build and clean up

One team start to finish. Soil, old material and green waste leave with us, and we walk the finished garden with you before we go.

Quakers Hill questions

What Quakers Hill homeowners ask us

My block is small and new. Is landscaping worth it?

Often more worth it than on a large block, because every metre is visible and the whole space changes at once. The layout does the work: running the paving the long way and keeping bed lines straight makes a compact yard feel considerably bigger.

My lawn has failed twice since the house was built. Why?

Almost always the ground. Newer blocks here are compacted fill with very little topsoil, so water runs off and roots cannot get down. Laying new turf over the same ground repeats it, so we decompact and top up first.

My older block is completely overgrown. Where do we start?

With a clear-out, quoted separately from the build. Once the space is back to clean ground you can actually see what you have, and the design decisions get much easier and cheaper.

Water pools in the yard after summer storms. Can that be fixed?

Yes. Most of the year's rain here falls in a few months, so drainage needs designing rather than hoping. We sort falls and drains as part of the build rather than planting into ground that will flood again.

Do you cover Schofields, The Ponds and Acacia Gardens?

Yes. We work across Quakers Hill and the surrounding Blacktown council suburbs including Schofields, The Ponds, Acacia Gardens, Marayong, Kings Langley and Riverstone.
