Courtyards, paths and small entertaining areas laid on a prepared base. On a narrow Canterbury block the paving sets the whole layout, so we set the cuts and the direction out before anything is laid.
See how we approach paving
Low sleeper and block walls to terrace a yard that steps down toward the river flats, turning an awkward slope into two usable levels. Drainage goes in behind every wall.
More on our retaining walls
New lawn over soil that has been properly rebuilt, not rolled over what was there. On small blocks that are overshadowed for part of the day, turf variety matters more than it does on an open yard.
How we lay new turf
Fresh mulch at the right depth to hold moisture in poor soil and give a small bed a defined edge. On a compact garden a clean mulch line does a lot of the visual work.
What our mulching involves
Screening hedges and formal shapes cut to a clean line. Between close-set Canterbury blocks a hedge is usually doing real privacy work, so we keep the density rather than opening it up.
How we trim hedges
Lifting canopies off roofs, gutters and boundary fences, and thinning growth so light reaches a garden that is already overshadowed. On shared fence lines we leave the neighbour's side tidy.
See our pruning and trimming
Removing a tree that has outgrown a small block. The City of Canterbury Bankstown controls removal and significant pruning of many established trees, and we check and flag it before quoting.
About our tree lopping work
Beds, paths and paving joints cleared back to a clean finish, roots included. On a small garden weeds are the whole impression, so this is the first stage of nearly every job here.
How we handle weeding
Old turf, soil, broken concrete and green waste taken away. With narrow side access common in Canterbury we barrow it out to the truck rather than running machinery through.
